Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Overview
Cranio (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Cranio iPhone app and this website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Cranio is a personal headache diary. Your health data is sensitive, and we treat it that way.
Information we collect
Headache diary data. Attack logs you create, including headache type, severity, timing, duration, symptoms, treatments, activity impact, and notes.
Profile information. Optional details such as your name, gender, and main headache type that you enter in Settings.
Medication data. Medications you add, dose schedules, adherence logs, and reminder preferences.
Weather and location. If you enable weather logging, the app uses your location at the moment an attack starts to record local temperature, air pressure, and humidity. Location is not tracked continuously.
Apple Health data. If you enable Health sync, the app may read sleep data and write headache entries to Apple Health, subject to your device permissions.
Optional account data. If you create an optional Cranio account for cloud backup, we store the account email and encrypted backup data needed to restore your diary.
Purchase information. Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive subscription status, not your payment card details.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Store and display your headache diary on your device
- Generate reports, charts, MIDAS scores, and insights
- Send medication reminders you have enabled
- Optionally sync backups if you choose an account
- Provide premium features such as trigger analysis
- Improve app reliability and respond to support requests
We do not sell your personal information or use your health data for advertising.
Where your data is stored
By default, your diary is stored locally on your iPhone. Data stays on your device unless you explicitly enable optional cloud backup or sync features.
You can export your diary as a CSV for your doctor, create a local JSON backup, or erase all data from Settings at any time.
Sharing your information
We do not share your headache diary with third parties for marketing. Data is shared only when you choose to export it (for example, emailing a CSV to your clinician) or when required by law.
Weather data may be fetched from third-party weather providers to attach conditions to an attack log. We send only the coordinates needed for that lookup at logging time.
Your choices
You can:
- Turn weather logging on or off in Settings
- Enable or disable Apple Health sync
- Enable Face ID app lock for extra privacy
- Export or delete your data at any time
- Manage notification and subscription preferences in the app
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect optional cloud backups and website communications. Optional Face ID lock adds protection on your device. No system is completely secure — please keep your device updated and use a strong passcode.
Children
Cranio is intended for users managing their own headache conditions. If you are under 16, please use the app with a parent or guardian's guidance.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated date.
